What parks for a 3 yr old?

Hi, am planning a two week trip end of April 2008. We are possibly going to stay in a villa near Lake Davenport and do some days trips to Tampa and other places but would also like to do a couple of the parks as we have a 3 yr old son. I%26#39;m not worried about packing all of them as we shall go again once he%26#39;s a older but the thought of seeing his face at Magic Kingdom .............!

What other parks would you suggest for a 3 yr old? Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

What parks for a 3 yr old?

hi my son is 3 and we went for the third time in sept.

your right about mk it is a must, can go on almost everything. my son even loved haunted mansion and pirates fo the caribbean.

i think ak is also a must. the lion king and nemo shows are great, plus the safari and animals there is so much for them to do and see, plus afew rides and depending on his height my son loved the dinosaur ride (40';).

as for mgm there is fantasmic plus playhouse disney but we ususally only do half day here as there isn%26#39;t too much for kids although the character greets here are great.

epcot. apart from nemo, crush , the seas and again depending on his height (40';) soarin this park isn%26#39;t all that for kids. although the world showcase is good kids see it more as a museum type thing.

we go universal as my son loves spider man.

in IOA they have cat in the hat area which is great for kids. my son also loved spiderman and the flying dinosaur things but again we only tend to do half day with half day at the villa pool.

the original universal has shrek and johnny nuetron plus they can meet dora and spongebob and of course scooby doo. they can also ride jaws. again we have never needed more than half a day but that can also depend on crowds.

seaworld is a must!!!!! the animals are great and the dolphin show blue horizons and shamu show believe are great my son also liked dining with shamu and his favourites were feeding the dolphins and seeing the polar bears.

plus they also now have shamu%26#39;s happy harbour which is an area with rides for the littluns, my son loved the shamu rollercoaster, the crabs the fishy merrygo round plus the boat and spinning cups. there is also a water area with spraying guns and fountains which was great so take there swimming trunks!!!! but be warned around show times for shamu (before and after) this area is packed so try to go in the middle of shows

sorry if it was soooo long winded but we had such a great time!!!!

hope this helped.

WIth a three year old, the Magic Kingdom is a MUST! The Magic Kingdom has tons of rides, and lots of characters which will be suites well for a three year old. Do not try to rush it, you will need at least one day to see everything. I would also try to go to Animal Kingdom. They have a few shows which are nice - including Lion King and Pocahontas. MGM is also nice, with Playhouse Disney. Since you are not going for a whole week, I%26#39;d skip EPCOT. Of all the theme parks, it is really geared the least towards little ones.

MK, AK and SeaWorld

The Animal Kingdom is highly recommended for kids that age-lots of outdoor shows, the Safari is great and there are several rides for kids his age.SeaWorld is also wonderful. And while the MK sounds like a natural, maybe not so much. Many of the rides have height requirements and Fantasyland-depends on your child. A lot of the attractions are in the dark and many kids dont like that. It%26#39;s amazing how many crying kids there are being dragged onto Winnie the Pooh. To meet Mickey-Chef Mickey%26#39;s a wonderful choice for a character meal and one my kids have enjoyed from babyhood to the teens they are now.

sorry have to disagree. mk is the one park in the world that caters for children as young as a few months to people as old as 100!!!!. the rides are family friendly and the only height restriction are splash mountain, runaway train, space mountain and goofy%26#39;s barnstormer (36';). we first took my son when he was 18mths and we were so surprised at all the things he could do , and more so that he really enjoyed them. ok some kids don%26#39;t like getting too close , my son hugs and kisses but my niece wants to be held by her mum but they still both enjoy it. it depends from child to child but the rides are really child friendly

for that age i would go to magic kingdom, animal kingdom and seaworld......

Here is a good site for anyone bringing a child under 5, to Disney.

MGM ( soon to be called Disney Hollywood Studios ) is often overlooked but I feel there is plenty for the little ones there also.

Happy Planning

Would just like to say a big thank you to everyone for all your advice. Will have great fun planning and I%26#39;m sure I%26#39;ll have loads more questions for you all!!

just one quick tip. take her to see her favourite character FIRST!!!

he will defo want to see them and will learn from that that they are not scary.

i made the mistake of taking my niece upto stitch and she got freaked out then wouldn%26#39;t see her favourites, mickey and the princesses either.

Dinosaur RIde @AK could be too intense for youngsters, IMO. The ride jerks riders around %26amp; dinosaurs are large, moving, noisy %26amp; right in your face scary.

If you can-- purchase the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World %26amp; read parts on WDW with children. There is also a section on Scary Stuff. Plus, it is full of other helpful information. I made our dining reservations based on reviews from the book.

I say do Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, %26amp; Epcot. Remember, the holiday is for you too. Take your time, take rest breaks, don%26#39;t push yourselves or your little one.
