Fishing license? Kayaks?

We%26#39;re arriving 12/15. Will we need a license for fishing on the beach or elsewhere? Any recommendations on where to rent the best kayaks for unguided trips? Thanks so much!

To fish Tarpon Bay, then Tarpon Bay Explorers rents them by the hour. You will also have access to the Ding Darling marked kayak trail. Free parking.

To fish Pine Island Sound, rent them up on Captiva at Captiva Canoe and Kayak at McCarthy%26#39;s Marina. $5 to park all day. You can kayak up to Red Fish Pass and North Captiva [but you better be in good shape as the water runs fast thru the pass] or down Roosevelt Channel and around Buck Key, another protected island.

Boat rentals, Jensen%26#39;s on Captiva, free parking.

We just returned Sunday night. This was our first time in Sanibel. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you did need fishing licenses as Tourmaline said -- we got everything we needed at the Bait Box. We had brought poles and tackle...but everything else including lots of info they were really helpful.. My husband and son fished soooo much that we/they were at the bait box like twice a day. They caught alot of fish off the beach plus kayaking in Tarpon Bay. We rented the kayaks from Tarpon Bay Explorers - unguided. My son(age 7) caught a 27 inch Snook in Tarpon Bay(just short of keeper). Tarpon Bay was absolutely amazing.

You do not need a saltwater fishing lisense in Florida if you are fishing from shore or any structue attaced to the shore, that would be the beach , a pier, bridge or dock.
