We're back - trip report

Too short a trip to Key West - down on Sunday, back tonight. Just a little taste that leaves you hungry for more. Well you got my Sunday arrival trip report. So now for the rest of the trip - we didn%26#39;t get to do too many acitvities - the purpose of our trip was to get the rest of our wedding plans set in stone. We were able to meet the lovely %26#39;WeddingHannah%26#39; - we are most fortunate to have her and her new finance photographing our wedding! How lucky are we!

On to the report...stayed at a 2BR/2BA rental at Duval Square. Great location - quiet area but right by Duval and a quick walk to anything. In the square there are some restaurants - one called New York Pasta Garden - the cheapest breakfast ever! Choice of 3 all you can eats for $1.99! Either cinamon french toast, pancakes or potatoe pancakes. Juice and coffee is $2.50 but at $1.99 - still makes for a cheap breakfast and it was good. Very friendly service.

Also, in Duval Square is Panini Panini - great sandwich place. The sandwiches are huge! Great for lunch or as we used it - a great bite to soak up all the alcohol!

Breakfast one morning at Camilles - huge 3 egg omelet! I had the ham and brie - so good with cuban toast and homefries. I couldn%26#39;t eat it all.

Most of our lunch and dinners were drinks and apps throughout the day. Got to try the royal reds at Conch Seafood - yummie! Half Shell Raw Bar and Turle Kraals did not dissapoint with their Happy Hour oysters! Great conch fritters and peel %26amp; eat shrimp at Half Shell. Also, had the mini cheeseburgers at Cheeseburger Key West - great little bites.

Nightlife was spent at Sloppy Joes - great band. Also, FABULOUS Monday Night Football specials at Ricks downstairs! Beer was super cheap and on top of that - for every beer you ordered, you got a food ticket to take in the back for hot dogs, hamburgers, wings, and kelbasa! Fun time there - even though New England won (I swear they are the LUCKIEST team in the NFL, especially when it comes to the ref calls).

For those looking to stay at the newly renovated Casa Marina - the place and the rooms look fabulous! They did a top noch job on getting that place remodeled.

And THE best part of Key West - as always, are the people you meet. We continue to have a great time each and every time because of the great locals we meet - we had nothing but great service everywhere we went. Can%26#39;t wait to go back in May and get married in Paradise!!

We're back - trip report

don%26#39;t need luck to win a football game when other players have a hissy fit and get 35 yards in penalties near end of game :-)

We're back - trip report

Sounds like you had a nice time even though you were down for ';work';, lol.

Nice trip report- We will be there in May for my son%26#39;s wedding. Very excited. Where is your wedding? His will be at Ocean Key Resort on the pier. I have printed your trip report for the restaurants. His ceremony will be at Truman Gardens. We will keep our fingers crossed for ';beautiful'; weather in May.

Hi Barb,

We%26#39;re getting married on the 17th at Casa Marina!

Ocean Key is so beautiful too - great for the sunsets! Good luck with the planning - please let me know if I can offer any vendor ideas or any ideas at all! I%26#39;m more then willing to share!!

Anne - did you notice at Casa Marina the beachfront cabana for massages - what a great idea! The money that has been spent at that resort is evident in any direction you turn. Beautiful spot for a wedding for sure!

We had lunch at the Pannini shop too and really enjoyed it. That Duval Sq has a lot of great choices and the evening dining under the lighted tree looked very appealing.

Sounds like you maxed out your short stay! Congrats to you on your upcoming wedding - it will surely be one your guests will talk about for a lonnnnng time.

Ken

I agree with Red Sox Nation, (I know what a surprise given my location) but is it luck or just other teams choking. Let%26#39;s face it, the Ravens were ';holding'; our receivers all night.

Anne, you do mention two great things. First, I forgot to mention in my own reprt about the Half Shell which also has a fantastic King Crab leg special, all you can eat, on Wednesdays, for only $19.954. Don%26#39;t want to sound like an advertizement, but these are soft shell and are great!!. Also agree with your opinion on Sloppy%26#39;s. Great entertainment.

Terrific report. What does it mean if the Dolphins go 0 and 16 and the Pats go 19-0. HMMMMMMMM!!!!
