For those of you who need to travel on I-95 - particularly to the Airport on Sunday 12/9, please be warned that this is the date of the massive Harley Toy Run and all the entrance ramps to I-95 are closed on that morning to allow thousands of motorcyclers to go in a procession going south.
It%26#39;s for a good cause as all the toys are given to the local children%26#39;s hospital and cyclers come from all over the country to participate. It traditionally starts at the Pompano Harness Track where they then go south to Markham Park on State Rd 84, just north of the Airport for party. I can%26#39;t recall how it affects northbound traffic , but you will not be admitted to any southbound entrance ramp onto I-95 for most of the morning. So , if you need to get to the Airport that morning , you%26#39;ll need to take an alternate route like US 1 etc which is stop and go. Ther are also big traffic jams on all the east -west main roads as folks who don%26#39;t know I-95 is closed have to make u-turns on the ramps and figure out where to go from there- and some folks come out just to stand on the overpasses and watch as thousands of motorcycles go south- their speed controlled by a police escort. Always fun to see a fearsome Hog rider with a big teddy bear strapped onto his cycle. It can be upsetting if you haven%26#39;t planned ahead and are stuck intraffic with your plane about to leave. It gradually eases up starting in the northa nd working it%26#39;s way down, but it%26#39;s usually at least noon or after before traffic is back to normal. Just thought you%26#39;d like to know!
