Staying On-site at Walt Disney World

My wife and I are looking at a five-day WDW vacation in Fall 2008 to celebrate our one-year anniversary. We would like to stay at the Beach Club/Yacht Club or Boardwalk, but I think it%26#39;s going to be a bit out of our price range. Realistically, we%26#39;re looking more in the Moderate resort price range (Coronado Springs or Port Orleans).

Our biggest decision factor is that we love to go out at night, have some drinks, fun, and a good dinner. We%26#39;d like to spend a lot of time around the Boardwalk and Epcot at night, but are concerned that we%26#39;d have a hard time with access to/from Coronado Springs or Port Orleans. Do the WDW buses run late, or are you basically ';dead in the water'; after 10pm or midnight? We just want to make sure that (without a rental car) we can still make it to and from our moderate resort in the later hours of the evening and night. Any advice?

You can reach either Port Orleans or Coronado Springs from the Boardwalk area via Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island. Just catch a bus to Downtown Disney and from there get the bus to your resort. These busses run late into the night.

Have fun!

Most of the information I can find indicates the resort buses run to/ from DTD and Pleasure Island until about 3 am. I%26#39;m sure this varies with time of the year as well though. Another option to consider is taking your resort bus to DTD or PI, then calling a cab to take you back to your resort whenever you are ready. Shouldn%26#39;t be too expensive. The Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans Resorts are pretty close. Coronado Springs is way over on the Animal Kingdom side, but still shouldn%26#39;t be more than a $15 cab ride.

The park buses run well after closing, and the Boardwalk and DTD buses even later. As has been mentioned, the PI buses run until after the nightclubs close. We have never had a problem but would agree with a previous post suggesting you also consider a taxi, for convenience if nothing else. But, yes, it%26#39;s perfectly do-able with Disney transportation.

Whatever hotel you choose you are allowed to use the other hotel pools. If you decide not to stay at the Beach Club, at least go over and check it out. If this hotel has caught your eye, I would stay here and save somewhere else. I have stayed at The Floridian too and logistically this is the best as well as what it has to offer around it.

There are some nice places to dine on The Boardwalk.

As you get closer to your trip, I suggest that you keep checking the rates at the Swan and Dolphin. They often have AAA rates or other special rates that are not a whole lot more than the Disney moderates, and put you in a great location, especially for walking to Epcot and the Boardwalk.
