What do you HAVE to do while in Key west?

I searched the first 14 pages looking for a similar thread, so if this is repeated, my deepest apologies......

We%26#39;ll have 4 full days and nights in Key West on our honeymoon, and want to ';get in'; as much or as little as we can. While we like to not ';plan up'; any vacation, I figured there would be some things we just couldn%26#39;t miss. I just don%26#39;t know what those things are.

I%26#39;ve read about some charter smorkelling, Mallory Square, Trails of Margaritaville, pub crawls, etc...... just don%26#39;t know what we should actually plan to do, vs. what we%26#39;ll just stumbe in to. We%26#39;ll be there in early April 08.

For me I have to go out on one of the full-day (10:00 - 4:00) combination snorkel / kayak trips, either Danger Chaarters or the Sebago Island T%26#39;Ing. The Sebago is still running a free sunset sail if you book the Island T%26#39;Ing. Second choice would be a 1/2 day with Danger. Then a 2-4-1 snorkel trip with Sebago (but you gotta hurry on this one).

I suggest the Butterfly Conservatory and an afternoon at the beach at Fort Zach. Other than that, eat and drink!!!!

Dinner Cruise%26#39;s sound nice and romantic. Type Dinner Cruise in the search box above.

We did Commotion on the Ocean with Fury very nice and Trails of Margaritaville also great.

The only ';HAVE'; to do for us in KW is relax and go see the freindly locals.

I would just hate to come home from our first trip there thinking.... ';I wish we had of ___________________.....';

Get out on the water - !!!!!!

Book a fishing charter, snorkeling, kayaking etc - it%26#39;s beautiful out there!

If you want your choice of some of the better fishing charters/captains - book now if you are coming in April.

That is why you%26#39;ll be back ;) Really don%26#39;t plan too much. IMO half the fun of KW is just walking around and checking things out, stopping for a drink and a bite to eat, chatting with the locasl at SWB. do KW the way you want to do it :)

If this is your fist time to Key West, here are my ideas

Mallory Square - once will be enough

Sunset Sail

Snorkel cruise

Conch Tour Train or Trolley

Mel Fishers Museum

Hemingway House

Little White House

Light House

Pick up a copy of Sharon Wells of Island City Walking and Biking Guide to Historic Key West. There is lots to see on your own.

Cemetary Tour

That should keep ya busy

If you are on your honeymoon, there is only one thing I can think of that you HAVE to do (repeatedly).

Since this is a family forum, I can%26#39;t list it here. Use your imagination.

Other than that, there truly is not a single thing I can think of that you absolutely HAVE to do. Just do what you want each day. Play it by ear and take it easy. If you see something that looks interesting, go do it. Over planning kills more good times in Key West than anything else. Relax! You are on your vacation.

Take the Conch Train Tour when you first get there to get a feel for KW and to get the ';lay of the land.'; Early in your trip go to Mallory Square for a Sunset Celebration and see if you want to go back. You may want to go every night, or once may be enough. Do something in/on the water (depending on your own preferences) as often as possible; sunset sail, glass bottom boat, parasail, snorkel, fish, etc, etc. The two primary areas for first timers are Duval St (don%26#39;t get tricked by the t-shirt shops) and the historic seaport. You%26#39;ll walk both several times. Read this forum A LOT and develop your own list. And finally, get a map and start trying to locate where things are. There%26#39;s a really good interactive map on-line. Go to this site: http://www.keywest.com/map1.html and click the word %26#39;Here%26#39; directly under the small map.
