Booked the HYATT.............thanks Donna FL and ALL of you!

Appreciate all the feedback and ideas!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info donna

ill ck it out. I will ck out hrs of operation for wknd hrs as well...(trolley and streetcar)

So you think using , expedia or one of those vaction booking package sites is a bit hairy??? thats too bad you had that room problem.... Id like to think this will happen ok, and the room is secured for me.

Well, I just booked on expedia, with the flight and hotel package, and went with the HYATT downtown.

i got a good combined price, and you all know ive been really searching for either separate or combined, and this deal was good.

i got an email from expedia, saying that airline reservation was confirmed with airline, and hyatt reserv. was confirmed with the hotel as well. I read rules and reg 3x......

expedia seems to want the customer to be happy and will do what they can......

i went to the hyatt website and cked the rates and availability, they are all the same as expedia. so i shouldnt NOT be without a room when i get there....

Now i did see on HYATTS site , that they have a trolley across the street, tampa street. and it connects to the historic streetcar that is 50 cents, and that will take us to channelside complex area. from your reply, donna, id take that trolley to the southern transp. center and get off and get on the streetcar to channelside complex?? it will say that on the streetcar, so we get on the right one?

Will that be the forum area and aquarium? or no? cant imagine its all to far away since hotel is about 6 blocks from that area.

seriously,, what about walking to the forum. it says its 6 blocks away from the hyatt.... is this true?? can 2 adults and a teenager walk to the forum? or aquarium for that matter....

or will we need to cross highways or whatever?? 6 blocks isnt long at all, city or otherwise.......

although, will walking back to the HYATT from the forum sat nite, be safe or ok at that time of nite??

lots of questions i know....

oh and donna? as for the girl sunbathing topless,at HJ PLAZA what the hek is that all about??? why would some chic do that in a hotel pool area, where kids and other people are around.. thats screwed up....

know whats funny? i recall hearing sometime ago, about how tampa fla. had the most strip clubs or garbage like that around, then anywhere else..... I did see there are several of those stupid hooters places to eat.... Im not for that crap at all....

Thats why i was wondering if being smack in middle of town and that area with all the businesses and men etc if that crap was in that area. of the hyatt... My 14 yr old boy doesnt need to see all that garbage in a city we have never been.....

well, hopefully HYATT wont have slop in the pool area. Its funny, it seems too fancy and upscale of a place for us.... we are average people, jeans and casual wear, not wearing fancy clothes to look like we fit in with the upscale hotel......not that type person. just normal average people.....and i wonder how many kids go to this hotel, cause if we are going to be swimming and my son and husband are goofing off and getting loud or silly playing, are people going to complain???

stupid wondering this isnt???

oh well............hopefully itll be all good..... 40$ round trip taxi to and from airport..... hyatt has a shuttle but they charge 10$ 1 way per person. so it would be 30 bucs instead of 20... thats no deal....

we would need a taxi to BG sunday and that would be it....

Booked the HYATT.............thanks Donna FL and ALL of you!

Just cked out the trolley and streetcar sites... seems trolley doesnt run on wknds BUT streetcar does..... and til late hrs too.

Like i asked about walking to the forum the 6 or so blocks... Can we WALK to the southern transp center and get the streetcar to the next stop. or is it pointless to do that, and we can just keep walking to the forum? When i say cant we walk, i mean is it a walk thats manageable even if its 6 or so blocks, or is there highways to cross etc etc..... from thos maps it looks as if we can walk to the transp center and get the streetcar. we can get the streetcar to the aquarium too. and they run til late at nite. we would just have to walk back to the hyatt from the transp center.

well, those of you who know the area well and the trolley system and walking, whats your take on this??

thanks

Booked the HYATT.............thanks Donna FL and ALL of you!

the walk between the Hyatt and the forum is all along Downtown streets so you guys should be fine to walk.

I have also walked from the forum to Channelside, that has several restaurants and Splitters which is a high end bowling complex. There is also a movie theater at Channelside.

From Channelside, you can take the trolley to Ybor. I would only go to Ybor during the day though since you will have a 14 yr old with you and it%26#39;s a party place at night.

Enjoy

Hildyi thanks

is it city streets all the way to the forum area, is there no highways to cross over?? from the google map it looks as if there is a big rd.

channelside dr is a road too as well as the name of the area? So when you say that you mean the area of channelside which goes along the forum and to the aquarium ? or am i wrong.

we may just go to the aquarium saturday daytime, then go down to the game in evening.

So you said YES we can walk directly to the forum from the hyatt with no problems?? or like i asked, should we got the transp center and then get the trolley. or is that pointless due to being so close to each other?

i hope we have fun too.

google maps on satellite are pretty clear and close. Looks definitely walkable. very close... we can walk out the front door of hyatt and walk down tampa st. there are expressways and overpasses.

looks like turning onto whiting st to franklin and then going down to channelside dr to the forum ent. is ok.

is walking that way, or those streets ok?? or is it better to go another st over to florida ? is that or those streets ok later at nite?

i can see the southern trans stop is right next to forum., well sort of, st petes forum dr, so yea its dumb to get a streetcar from there to the forum.... How far is it from there to the aquarium?? i know its pretty close after the forum. But my son may not be able to do that walk....It looks like we can get off at beneficial or cumberland. NOW i see from the map, it says channelside over the buildings and the aquarium is just to the right. so i guess the bowling and movies etc are in that spot, right?

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;So you think using , expedia or one of those vaction booking package sites is a bit hairy??? %26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

Probably not.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;take that trolley to the southern transp. center and get off and get on the streetcar to channelside complex?? it will say that on the streetcar, so we get on the right one?%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

There is only one streetcar line in Tampa and it runs between the Southern Transit Center and Ybor City, which goes by the Forum, Channelside, Aquarium.

There are only two Trolley lines: one circulates through the downtown area and the other goes from the downtown area to the Hyde Park area.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;seriously,, what about walking to the forum. it says its 6 blocks away from the hyatt.... is this true?? can 2 adults and a teenager walk to the forum? or aquarium for that matter....

or will we need to cross highways or whatever?? 6 blocks isnt long at all, city or otherwise....... %26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

I think, if you are walkers at all, you can walk to the Forum from the Hyatt and back. I think you would be ok before the game and also after the game. Walking to the Aquarium I would not recommend, mainly because the sidewalks are not as good or may not exist and the area is somewhat industrial.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; i recall hearing sometime ago, about how tampa fla. had the most strip clubs or garbage like that around, then anywhere else..... I did see there are several of those stupid hooters places to eat.... Im not for that crap at all.... %26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

Yes, Tampa does have that reputation, actually there are some strip clubs relatively close to the football stadium. Unless you are looking for them you might not even notice them and Hooters is certainly not in the same league as the strip clubs.

Just wanted to chime in, I live near downtown in South Tampa, and go to many events and games at the forum, and channelside area. You can go out the Franklin Street exit from the Hyatt, and just walk Franklin Street to CHannelside Drive, very safe and pedestrian friendly, there will be alot of people around on game night(Check out Hatricks before the game for some eats). You can also walk to the Aquarium and Channelside, or just hop on the Streetcar, whichc is a very short walk form the Hyatt.

There are downtown guides all over the place to help with directions, etc. Also, the hotel bellmen and concierge can also help you at with suggestions, directions, etc.

The Hyatt is nice, many families stay there, its not all uppity and high class, you will be very comfortable there.

Im glad you finally made a decision...ENJOY!

One last thing, a link to Tampa%26#39;s downtown, great information, and maps.

Im sure we will have a good time, and hopefully weather is good in mid october for us..

THANX
