Instead of giving you a long list of prices in Dec 2006 we put $100 a day for food and drink for two of us so allowed $1500 for a 14 day holiday some days we would spend a lot less other days a bit more (havnt included our two grandsons in this who were with us)places like Rain Forest Cafe is quite expensive and eats into your budget but most are around the the same price as uk except in Dollars ie 拢15 ahead here $15 dollars there ,hope this makes sense and helps

Hi Pete

There are a million and one hotels in the Orlando area as well as apartments and villas. What will you be looking to do? Parks? Will you have a car? Do you want quiet or action?

As for food and drink, it%26#39;s cheap as chips at the moment. Expect to pay around $50 each (拢25) for a top meal with 3 courses in a good restaurant. Buffet breakfasts are great value at $4.99 each and as there%26#39;s so many restaurants in the area they are all fighting for your Dollar. Wine tends to be a bit pricey in restaurants and beer is around $5 per pint roughly.

Fizzy drinks and coffee will usually be %26#39;bottomless%26#39; in diners and iced tap water is free.

Food tends to be chicken, steak or shrimp (king prawn) in various disguises and personally, we%26#39;ve never had a good Chinese or Indian but other visitors have. The food tends to be on the sweet side and the portions are massive!

Let us know what you are looking for and we can narrow down the hotel choice

Andy

thanks for the quick replys.parks yes but we like the quiet end of things.as for the car do we really need a car.dont mind if we do have a car or we dont many thanks again

America is a very car-orientated society and things in Orlando are well spread out without the same public transport that we have in the UK. That%26#39;s why most Brits rent a car. It%26#39;s a doddle to drive there (a pleasure, almost!) and petrol is even cheaper than eating ($2.70 per gallon).

If you don%26#39;t want a car, you%26#39;d be best staying on International Drive as most hotels there offer free shuttle to Disney Parks. However, I-Drive, as it%26#39;s known, is very touristy and can get noisy, although not in a Benidorm type way. Lot%26#39;s of restaurants and diners there, but you won%26#39;t find many pubs there.

Alternatively, the area known as 192 in Kissimmee is a lot quieter but there is still a good selection of eating places.

Taxis are not that cheap, $26 each way from 192 or the south end of I-Drive to Disney apparently.

To give you an idea of the size of Disney World for example, it covers 45 square miles, roughly the same size as Greater Manchester so once you arrive at the entrance to Disney World you could still be a few miles from any of the actual parks within it. Hence the convenience and savings by hiring a car.

For your guide, we usually pay around $100 per week for a Mondeo sized car so it is very reasonable compared to taxis.

Hi tinypete big_J_58 here from Lincoln.

We use Radisson Barcello on International Drive. It%26#39;s a very nice hotel great pool, set back away from the hustle and bustle of I-Drive which is a bit like Maide Marions way in Nottingham, a lot fletter and about 15 miles longer.

Have fun where ever you stay.
