Why the Florida Keys?

Hi,

We%26#39;ll be in Florida at the end of March. I want a one-week relaxing trip with water sports activities (jet ski), mild snorkling (i.e. don%26#39;t want to go out so far b/c have fear of sharks), a tiki bar and fresh fish to eat!

I am debating whether I shoudl spend my week in the Florida Keys. I%26#39;ve heard it%26#39;s beautiful, but I see that the beaches aren%26#39;t good. Can you please explain why you would choose the Florida Keys and what there is to do there.

BTW, we%26#39;re a young couple (early 30s) without kids.

Thank you so much!

Why the Florida Keys?

The Keys can be as hectic or as relaxing as you want it to be. If you want to stay out in the bars till 4 am you can do that and have plenty of company.

But if your priority is a white wide sandy beach stretching as far as the eye can see, as you have observed, you will not find it in the Keys. You can snorkel at other places with better beaches, but you will not see as much as in the Keys. So it is entirely up to you which you choose.

Why the Florida Keys?

Key West really has alot to offer. You can make it as relaxing as you want to, or party the whole time. Plenty of museums, shopping, great eating and fun places to visit. Water sports of every kind. All this without having to drive anywhere! True, the beaches aren%26#39;t as great as on the gulf coast, but there are beaches for relaxing. You could take day trips from Key West up the keys to some nice beaches if you would like. Also, the end of March can still be a bit chilly, so the farther South, the better. The weather is beautiful at that time.

Check out the Key West forum. There is alot of info from great locals and visitors.
