yes I know about mears, is there any cheaper taxi service?

got back yesterday. Used Tropical Transport for the majority of the holiday who were great - dropped us off and you could ring them later in the day /evening when you wanted to be picked up (personal taxi service really). They were great.

Hi despite all the great advice on here about mears and personally checking the fare calculator,... 28 dollar estimate

We leaped into a cab company named the yellow cab, misleading because they are coloured orange, the guy talked about supporting arsenal and when i said they are dear to watch 80 pounds a ticket,he replied ';160 dollars thats not bad';

Anyway when we arrived at our hotel 20mins later, he charged 45 dollars before tip, now i know why 160 dollars for a football game was of no concern..

T A User 1, I do not know if they were lower than with Mears - but I liked the way they would take you wherever you wanted to go and whenever you wanted and a quick phonecall and they would pick you up from wherever (even if you have moved location). We were down in Kissimee with ';nothing'; in walking distance and a cab to any of the Disney theme parks was 拢12 - cab to Universal was 拢17 - if you booked a return it was cheaper but as we were jumping on buses,walking, or using the i=ride trolley we were usually somewhere else when we needed picking up.

If you want REALLY cheap - take the bus.

Lynx Bus 42 will take you from the terminal to right outside your hotel for $1.50 each. It takes about 1hr 20 minutes, but it is direct (same bus right through). Runs every 30 minutes from 6am to 1030pm (930pm on Sundays).
