Best place to view the fantasy fest parade?

I can%26#39;t wait for the parade! There wasn%26#39;t much of a crowd for the 2005 DEC parade and we were on the opposite corner of sloppy joes with no hassles. Last year the crowd was pretty overwhelming and we didn%26#39;t see much. The more we moved the more we literally got sardined in place. So, where is a good place to watch? I don%26#39;t mind spending a few bucks for a good spot, bathroom, bar, etc

Mangos, Alices, Bagatelle. Anyplace along the frist 13 blocks of Duval.

Thats a map of Duval. Look it over and start calling the places that sound good to you. Many places already have the best seats reserved for locals.

Well, this may duplicate another post, but I can%26#39;t find it anywhere.

I thought I%26#39;d entered the post, but then got dumped to a ';log in'; page...even though I%26#39;ve been logged in.

My only FF was 2005, and I shot a load of video in the 800 block during the parade. If you%26#39;d like to see it, just be patient because it takes a while to download even in Quicktime. Go to:

keyscast.com/keyscast/鈥ndex.html

and click on Fantasy Fest Video...download the clip in MP4 format.

It%26#39;ll give you a pretty fair feel for the parade.

Thanks guys, the research continues!

Just do not wait too long to find something. Many places (like Bagatelle) have people reserve for the next year as soon as the parade is over. The 2nd floor of Bagatelle is probably already booked up. Some places are more expensive than others. You could find rates from 40 to a couple 100 dollars. Bagatelle is usually one of the highest. Another thought is Whitehead Street. The parade actually starts here and it is considerably less crowded compared to Duval.

I%26#39;m beginning to realize that answering this ';best spot'; question publicly for all the out-of-towners is a bit of a double-edged sword, i.e., if you tell everyone where the best viewing spot is/was, it is unlikely to remain that way for very long.......n%26#39;est pas? Why should we expect Arnie to give away the location of his favorite tree limb in the 800 block of Duval...lol!

Therefore, the spots everyone has to pay for would seem to be the fairest to disclose, like the restaurants.

And yes, ';Beth'; still has a couple of seats at the Bagatelle for you, but unless you are pretty well-heeled, you will blink at what she is charging to make your gringo acquaintance that evening.

So, here is a more general question...............

You say the parade moves up (although I guess more correctly, down) Whitehead. Does it cross over to Duval on Caroline or Greene or does it move on to Front Street to Mallory Square to intersect up with Duval?

It starts around the court house area of Whitehead, crosses front and then makes its way down Duval and I think ends around Catherine. I always forget where they turn off but its somewhere around there.

Bagatelle is pricey (usually about 300 per person) but she does put out a nice buffet.

on the second floor of the bull you can buy seats outside on there balcony i am not sure how much they cost but i am going to watch it there if it doesnt cost to much

Thanks again everyone, once again seabreeze you are spot on!

I hoped it wouldn%26#39;t be too controversial a topic!
