First timer..orlando to new york!

Hi all,my partner and I are planning our holidays for next year..hoping to travel August/September.We%26#39;ll be flying from the UK and hope to spend approx 2weeks in Orlando maybe fitting in a few days at Tampa(for Busch gardens and beach time!) and then fly to New York for some shopping and then head back to the UK.This will be the first time we%26#39;ve planned a trip like this and would really appreciate any advise regarding:

...accomadation in Orlando..hotels,private villas/condos..must have a pool

...recommended airlines from the UK and also for internal flights from Orlando to New York

....Distance to Tampa from Orlando..what to see/do

....What area of Orlando to stay in(we will be renting a car)

Thanks you so much(no doubt I%26#39;ll have alot more questions).

First timer..orlando to new york!

orlando to Tampa about 1 hrs drive..some good hotels near Busch Gardens, and your near clearwater for the beech..I stayed in gt western with pool..

Orlando a private villa might be too big, plenty of resorts with pools and plenty more, sheraton vistana have numerous pools and restaurants and 5 mins from WDW..

airlines what a debate..scheduled or charter..if you want to stay in the big apple then some scheduled airlines give free stop overs where you stay a while between flights..BA may do, but AA or other american airlines..check out there web sites..

have a good time planning, you will keep on finding different ways/ideas..try to keep it simple..I always lok at flights first..then match up the accomodation..

enjoy

hi there

Look at virgin you can fly into orlando and out of new york, they can also arrange internal flights if you prefer to do it yourself then check out the prices with delta.

when staying in orlando i prefer to stay at lake buena vista its between disney and i drive, they have selection of hotels and condos,

I prefer a condo as its easier and more space with the children, as there is only 2 of you hotel will be fine.

Tampa is just over an hour away, and from then you can visit the beaches st petes, and clearwater are close.

hope this helps

Hi

Ive recently done this trip, and i flew MCO Orlando to La Guardia airport New York with Delta airlines and it took about 2hr 20mins.

it cost around 70 pounds.

I booked this domestic flight through www.delta.com i rang their british telephone number, listed on the site.

I chose to fly to La guardia because it is the nearest airport to Manhatten, it was a 10 min cab ride and cost 22 dollars.

There are loads of flights to the UK from JFK New York, hell, theres even the dreaded globepan to Liverpool, just search for the best price and nearest airport to where you live.

That was good advice about flying Virgin into Orlando and out of New York, that will get you to Manchester which is probably nearest to you, also www.virginamerica.com is their american branch of the business where you can book domestic american flights.

But virgin in august will be expensive...

You may wish to search the other way round do new york first then head down to orlando.. whatever you decide enjoy it

Continental are a good airline, you can get them up to Newark which is much quieter than JFK, and also you can get a flight with them back to UK, either London or Manchester.

American fly from MCO to JFK, and there are loads that fly you to the UK from there

Isn%26#39;t the sales tax less in Florida than it is in NY? I may be wrong, but I would definately check this out before you go. That way you can ensure that you buy %26#39;high street%26#39; goods for less in Florida than you would in NY.

checkout www.kayak.com for great deals on flights. I booked one way flights for 2 adults from orlando (mco) to new york (ewr) for 69 dollars each travelling nexy july

Oooh, Oooh, I remember this: Fla State tax varies from county to county. In Osceola County (Kissimmee) it%26#39;s 7%, Orange County (Lake Buena Vista, Downtown Disney, Premium Outlet Malls) it%26#39;s 6.5%. Afraid I don%26#39;t know the counties or state tax rates in Tampa.

Up in New York City the state tax is just over 8% (can%26#39;t remember the exact %), so yes, it%26#39;ll definitely be cheaper buying in Fla than in New York. Mind you, the cost of living overall is higher in New York than it is in Fla.

So if you can, buy as much as you can in Fla, but then don%26#39;t deprive yourself of the experience of shopping in New York.

As a family we stay in the Kissimmee area, but as it%26#39;s just the two of you I%26#39;d like to recommend the Lake Buena Vista area. It%26#39;s near the Outlet Malls and DTD. The only place I can recommend there is the Fairfield Inn at the Marriot Village, which also has the Springhill Suites and another hotel, which I can%26#39;t remember. But it is lovely in that it%26#39;s like a little village with multiple pools and food courts. But be warned it%26#39;s very big, lol. If you do decide to stay in the LBV area I%26#39;d recommend you NOT stay at the Comfort Inn as it%26#39;s a pet-friendly hotel and their rooms are susceptible to fleas, which unfortunately we found out to our detriment.

But as you%26#39;ll be hiring a car, the world (or at least Orlando) is your oyster. Take your time planning and you%26#39;ll be fine.
