Ocean Manor Condo

We are going to Fort Lauderdale in February, and are considering renting a unit at Ocean Manor Condo on Galt Ocean Drive.

We don%26#39;t know Fort Lauderdale at all, and would like to know if this is a good area, and one that would be recommended instead of a hotel.

Price comes to about 200. with taxes, and has a oceanfront balcony and 1 studio room.

Really appreciate any feedback.

The area is good....not too near the www.watertaxi.com transport....

Have you read the reviews to this very old condominium? nI would caution you to read the positives remembering that the owners there have a vested interest in trying to keep things positive

Usually, when a person posts a negative, they are mad and feel they were taken advantage of, or lied to in order to get the rental. They are made enought to post a warning.

But a happy camper.....unless they are interested in travel, and helping other travelers, would usually not come to one specific location to puh the positives ( truth or not).

In other words, nearly every positve on this place is TOO POSITIVE. With the poster posting only one review and just for this place.

Please do not wait too long to book a place....but wait unit Lulu gets back for more up to date information. She lives in the area, and a few posters to this forum have also reported MOSTLY unfavoriable reports on this condo.

Ocean Manor Condo

I would have popped on sooner , but my computer died. Ocean Manor is the neighborhood eyesore- very poorly maintained- as most of the reviews Ken led you to indicate. A few apartments are in better shape as the owners ( it%26#39;s a condo hotel) keep a better eye on them- but even if you rent privately through an owner, you can expect a very poor performance by the on site managers who don%26#39;t seem to care. It%26#39;s in a residential area on the north end of the beach- pretty far from the main tourist area- and as Ken said- a few blocks north of Water Taxi- I had distant relatives stay there and was with them as they were shown apartment after apartment with plumbing and light fixtures loose on the wall and door locks that didn%26#39;t function- till they finally found one that was very shabby but not falling apart-it was pretty bad and I doubt anything has improved. Rent at your own risk- there%26#39;s reason the prices are so low!
