best shopping mall

how is the area around the Dadeland mall? Seems like there are more restaurants and stores within walking distance from the Hampton Inn. Is the mall a good one, too?

HI!

Dadeland is a fabulous Mall but not an outlet. Outlets are off-price (up to 70% off) and Dadeland is a full-priced mall that often has sales but at full retail.

The area around Dadeland has had a great deal of construction to make it easier for locals and visitors to stay on site and get to some restaurants and bars on foot. Dadeland is also a train and bus transit hub.

But I would not consider it a tourist district unless you are here to SHOP.

There are many nice restaurants and coffee bars inside the mall including a quick-stop food court, plus a few inexpensive places just a few streets away on US1 (Dixie), and some local pubs as well. At the mall, try Cheesecake Factory Johnny Rockets or Tony Roma%26#39;s (all chains). Near the mall and worth a look - Lan Pan Asian at Dadeland station, 2 Chefs on Dixie, Shorty%26#39;s BBQ on Dixie or Captain%26#39;s Tavern Seafood.

Many South American people come up before Christmas and do their shopping at Dadeland Mall. Dadeland doesn%26#39;t have Outlets but it has some good stores.

Dolphin Mall isn%26#39;t totally all Outlet, it is a mix I have found. There are some stores that are totally Outlet and some that are regular stores. I personally don%26#39;t care for Dolphin Mall, but location wise to the airport it is good. There is another mall about 1 mile from Dolphin Mall called Miami International Mall (not outlet). So I guess the two combined, you will have some luck.

There is also Merrick Place an outdoor mall located in Coral Gables. South Beach has many retail stores lately especially on Collins Ave. Worth thinking about, again not outlets.

I have to say the best Outlet Mall in South Florida is called Sawgrass Mills in the City of Sunrise, its about 40 minutes north of Miami. If you are renting a car you could find a hotel around Sawgrass Mills Mall and then do your shopping there. It also has many restaurants there.

All of these malls have websites, so if you type in the name of the mall you can find the mall and then see the stores/restaurants that each has.

Thanks!

Sounds like the Dadeland Mall area would be fun for a day and a half before a cruise. We will not be renting a car, so am I right to be thinking that from the Hampton Inn we will have lots of places to walk to in a safe area?

Did you look at the Dadeland Marriott or Dadeland Courtyard Marriott, they have complimentary airport transportation. So it may come out to the same price as the Hampton Inn once you factor in cab prices.

Well from the Hampton Inn, there is Dadeland Mall which has shops, food court (Fast food), one sit down Italian restarant and Cheesecake Factory. Across from the Hampton Inn is a shopping center called Dadeland Station (Best Buy, Michaels, Target, Sports Authority, Bed Bath %26amp; Beyond) There is a great asian restaurant there called Lan Pan Asian, nothing fancy just good. Across Dadeland Station on the otherside of US1 is DSW (Designer Show Warehouse) you can get some great deals on shoes. Next to DSW is Ross which is a discount store, some people have luck finding stuff at this store, but i don%26#39;t usually have luck there, but maybe you will.

Across Kendall Drive from Dadeland Mall are two other restaurants Panera Bread and Chilis. Along with some more shops (container store, office depot, linen n%26#39; things, mens warehouse, west elm)

The best full retail malls :

hey! if your converting the GBP to the US Dollar your getting great DEALS!!!! :)

1.) Aventura Mall-will have nordstrom soon! This is hands down my favorite mall! Aventura mall has it ALL. And great restaurants.

2.) Dadeland-Dadeland is practically a landmark here! lol....Everyone goes there, but its alot smaller then Aventura and SawGrass.

Dadeland Mall ranges from Saks 5th ave. to The Gap.

3.) Village of Merrick Park Mall - lots of hotels nearby in Coral Gables, but this is a very high end retail mall, in other words, Neiman Marcus, Burberry, Tiffany%26#39;s, Nordstrom, jimmy choo, La Perla, and so on...

The best outlet malls:

1.) Sawgrass Mills- This is the ultimate outlet mall here, its a bit further away, in broward county, but its WORTH it if you wanna save big, and get great stuff! This mall is HUGE!!! So make sure your weairing comfy shoes, and the dining options are great! I recommend eating at the Grand Luxe Cafe (Aventura just opened it too)

2.) Dolphin Mall-I won%26#39;t lie, this is definitely NOT your best option, Dolphin mall has only a few outlets and they are not the best. Half the mall sells trashy brazilian jeans and tacky tropical dresses. Its not a bad mall, but its layout is annoying and most of the stores are small and don%26#39;t offer much. The dining options are lacking as well, only Texas de Brazil is impressive! but it is $40/person.

You will shop til you drop in Sawgrass mills mall. Aventura is great too.

I suggest renting a car! :)
