in brochures the water is crystal clear like in the caribbean? is it really that beautiful in Destin? i just got one in the mail today for a hotel and the water looks amazing! makes me want to go.

All Carribean has cristal clear green looking water all the way from Cancun down to the islands. Some hotels have their pictures taken using various lens filters making it all looking more attractive which in fact is for real.

Most days it does look like that - obviously when the waves are kicking up it isn%26#39;t as clear - but I have already been down 80 feet and been able to see the bottom of the boat.

im glad to hear that! thought maybe it was camera tricks. definatly want to go there now.

i wont swim in the ocean unless i can see whats swimming with me! lol

The water really is that beautiful. They call us the Emerald Coast.

Yeah, I was amazed to be able to see my feet when the water was at my neck! You will see the little crabs in their shells scurrying away from you too.

I know some of the islands may have gorgeous water but in the U.S., best sight I see water-wise is crossing the bridge into Destin from the West going East. What a lovely sight! The greenish blue hue to the water there takes your breath away.

definatly need to go to Destin since i cant afford to go to Jamaica next year! lol

It is also due to the composition of the sand in the area.
