Easy drive from airport to Treasure Island?

I downloaded a Google map to get us from the airport to Treasure Island but it looks a little complicated. We%26#39;ll be leaving from the Hertz rental area and wonder if there is an easy way to get to TI. We have driven major cities--Atlanta, Las Vegas, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx.

Easy drive from airport to Treasure Island?

If you can drive in Atlanta you can drive anywhere.. This route will seem rural to you in comparison. Just follow the signs leaving the airport to get onto I-275 south toward St Pete. Follow 275 over the bridge, stay on until exit 23 B I believe it is, to 5th Ave or even Central, and follow it west to TI. It is a very very low key drive! The airport area has a lot of construction currently, but you just need to watch signs carefully. That will be the only part of the drive where you%26#39;ll feel stressed and all that stress will melt away as you cross Tampa Bay on the Howard Frankland bridge and see all that pretty water.

You make it sound very easy, OO! Guess Google couldn%26#39;t stay in business if it made things sound too easy! Thanks for your speedy reply! Sandi

Don%26#39;t worry it is an easy drive, there is some construction around the airport now, but you will be fine. Watch for signs for the 275, then you want to go towards ST. Petersburg.

You are going to cross the Bay, when you get to the other side, you will see a sign for the 688-Ulmerton Rd. Take that. Stay on that it will eventually turn into Walsingham rd. You are virtually taking this road right to Gulf Blvd, where you will see the ocean. You will be going through a lot of stop lights. You will cross the intercoastal waterway just before the road dead ends. This is Gulf Blvd. Turn left, you will just drive down a couple of miles and you will hit Treasure Island. I find this way easier than the 275 all the way in as google maps says.

Have fun, it is a great area. On Ulmerton, you will pass a ton of resturants, stores, a mall and gas stations, so lots of places to stop if you want. Note when you come out of the airport it will say 275 Tampa, and then it splits into the 275 to Tampa or St. Petersburg, don%26#39;t take the 60, that goes to Clearwater.

Hope this helps

Thanks, ready! I%26#39;ll check out Ulmerton on the map. It never hurts to know where more restaurants are!

Taking Ulmerton Road is a good option, but be advised that a huge section of it, from a mile of so off the Howard Franklin Bridge to about US19 is under major construction. I drive it every day and it can be a bear. Most of the road is two-laned and gets very heavy with traffic during morning, lunch and evening rush hours. Keeping that in mind, it is a straight shot from the airport to the beach (Gulf Blvd) and once you get through Largo it does become three lanes and much nicer to drive.

Thanks for the tip, I%26#39;m going that way tomorrow, didn%26#39;t know the construction was that bad, will find an alternate.
