How is the beach?

I have planned a trip to St. Augustine and will be arriving Sunday. I have seen pictures of the beach errosion there in St. Johns County on the Weather Channel. It looked horrible. Is it that way on Anastasia Island? What does the rest of the city look like? Flooded?????

Thanks for your help,

Robin

How is the beach?

During heavy rains and high tides, part of St Augustine are indeed under water. But it drains quickly. Haven%26#39;t been out to the beach yet, but erosion is typical after they do beach renourishment. We had a family that went yesterday they said they had trouble negotiating the drop off, so I suggested Crescent beach to them. St. Augustine is as nice as ever, and we%26#39;re thankful for all the rain as we%26#39;ve been having a drought!

cheers!

How is the beach?

We visited the beach on Anastasia island about a week ago and really didn%26#39;t see any signs of beach erosion...we were there during the afternoon (apparently at low tide)....water was warm--at least near the shore -- and the drop-off wasn%26#39;t bad....no crowds and beautiful weather.

The worst erosion is around the pier. Frankly, I feel sorry for anyone (except surfers - who love that area!) who goes to our beach in the pier area. There%26#39;s a large drop-off between the ';dry'; sand and the ';wet sand';. If you love the beach try Anastasia State Park (north of the pier area) or drive south of the pier area - down around ';A'; Street the beach is wide and flat and lovely. There is limited public parking or you can drive on the beach and park (for a fee). From ';A'; Street south to Crescent Beach at the southern tip of Anastasia Island the beach is really nice. Enjoy!
